Characteristics
Combination skin is characterized by dry and oilier areas. The cheeks and the area around the eyes are often dry, tight, and sometimes even red and flaky. At the same time, the skin on the nose, chin, and forehead is oilier than normal. This so-called T-zone also often shows blemishes such as spots and enlarged pores.
Causes
- Hereditary
- Hormonal changes: The composition of your skin can change during pregnancy or menopause.
- External factors, such as the (incorrect) use of cosmetics. Irritating ingredients can stimulate sebum production in the T-zone while causing dryness and redness in other areas of the face.
- Using creams that are too rich and clog pores.
Care
It's also best to treat different areas of your face differently. For example, dry areas with products for normal to dry skin and oilier areas with products for oily skin. It's a matter of trial and error.
