Characteristics
From the age of 25, skin cell division begins to slow down, and the first signs of skin aging become visible, often in the form of fine lines around the eyes. As we age, cell division slows down, so it takes longer and longer for the skin to recover. The skin also produces less sebum, slowing blood flow and cellular activity. This reduces the skin's ability to retain moisture and eliminate waste products.
Especially after menopause, this process accelerates due to the decline in the hormone estrogen. The amount of collagen in the skin then decreases by 30% over a period of about five years.
Therefore, when the skin becomes drier and thinner and develops more wrinkles, we can speak of mature skin. There is no fixed age for this, as the age at which aging occurs can vary greatly from person to person. Skin condition, lifestyle, and skin care all influence this.
Care
- Cleanse: Cleanse your skin morning and night with a gentle facial cleanser . All our facial cleansers are suitable for mature skin.
- Serum: Always use a serum before applying your face cream. A serum contains many active ingredients that effectively address specific skin concerns such as wrinkles, lack of hydration, sallowness, and age spots. Always let the serum sit for at least one minute before applying your face cream. All our face serums are suitable for mature skin.
-
Eye contour care: Always use special care for the eye area . The skin around the eyes is thinner, more sensitive, and drier than the rest of the face. There are fewer sebaceous glands, and skin aging becomes visible first here.
Day cream: Use a day cream for mature skin every morning.
Night cream: Use a night cream every night.
Exfoliation: Exfoliate your skin regularly; starting at age 30, 1-2 times a week, starting at age 40, 2 times a week, and starting at age 50, 3 times a week. Always use a gentle exfoliant .
Facial Mask: Use a nourishing facial mask 1-2 times a week.
General advice
- Drink plenty of water
- Quit smoking: Tobacco slows blood flow, preventing waste products from being eliminated properly, resulting in a dull, sallow complexion.
- Do not drink alcohol or drink as little as possible, as alcohol has a drying effect.
- Get enough sleep.
- Eat healthy, fresh, and varied foods; consume as little sugar as possible. Sugar accelerates the skin's aging process.
